Romans 9:32
NIV:  Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.
NAS:  Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,
KJV:  Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
GWT:  Why? They didn't rely on faith to gain God's approval, but they relied on their own efforts. They stumbled over the rock that trips people.
